Vaughan - Takeover bid?

Chester's chairman has entered a different market altogether, according to an article by this morning’s Daily Post.

The former Barrow Chairman recently tried unsuccessfully to establish himself as a major shareholder in Everton FC, but has turned his attentions to former Super League side, Widnes Vikings.

The report cites there have been ‘strong links’ between Stephen Vaughan and a potential takeover of the club, after Vaughan allegedly discussed the possibility of such a move with a Vikings director.

And it is expected that such discussions will continue into the future.

Concerning to Chester supporters, is the development of this on the back of strains in the relationship between the Chester supremo and a number of local authorities.

However, it is understood his position with Chester City will remain unaltered in the event of a transaction, as the Blues rich form continues to surprise the pre-season ‘relegation favourites’ pundits.

Vaughan refused to open on the matter: "Until I have spoken in greater depth about the matter to those concerned, I am not prepared to speak publicly about the situation."

The Daily Post has suggested that Vaughan may seek shared facilities between Widnes and Chester City, should he be successful in his takeover attempts.
