ASTON VILLA vs HULL CITY - MATCH PREVIEW
By Ryan Ghee
January 6 2006
Aston Villa travel to the Kingston Communications Stadium tomorrow where they will play Championship outfit Hull City in the third round of the FA Cup. David O'Leary's men will be keen to avoid a repeat of last year's upset when they were beaten 3-1 by Sheffield United in the same round.
Aston Villa team news: Milan Baros will miss the third round clash after picking up five yellow cards and earning himself a one-match ban. Juan Pablo Angel is expected to take his place alongside Luke Moore as O'Leary is set to field his best possible XI. Thomas Sorensen and Wilfred Bouma seem to have recovered from their injuries so both should be recalled to the starting line-up.
Hull City team news: Peter Taylor is expected to name fit-again Craig Fagan in attack alongside Billy Paynter. However, Ben Burgess, Ian Ashbee, Steve McPhee, Alton Thelwell, Danny Coles and Roland Edge all remain on the sidelines.
History of this fixture: The Villans have met Hull City on only 21 occasions with Villa winning 10 of the games, Hull winning 5, and the remaining 6 ending all square. The two sides have met five times in the FA Cup and Hull have never beaten Villa on any of the occasions. The last time these two teams met was in the same competition in 1999 when Aston Villa ran out comfortable 3-0 winners.
Match betting: Aston Villa win - 8/11
Hull City win - 10/3
