Former England goalkeeper Ian Walker could be about to return to the top flight after Bolton Wanderers confirmed their interest in the 33-year old.
Walker has been without a club since being released by Leicester City at the end of last season, and a move to the Reebok Stadium to join Bolton on a 12-month contract is likely to appeal to the veteran custodian.
Bolton are already beleived to have offered Walker terms as back-up to regular goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen and a decision is expected to be made later on this week before the Trotters go over to the Far-East.
The son of ex-Norwich and Everton boss Mike Walker, Ian has also played over 200 games for Tottenham Hotspur in the 1990's and had a breif loan spell with Oxford United in 1990.
Sam Allardyce confirmed he was hopeful of a deal materialising.
"Ian Walker is a possibility. We are hopeful that he can perhaps join us in the next day or so if we can tie a deal up. We'd like him to come away to Thailand with us because we desperately short of cover for Jussi."
