Bolton manager Sam Allardyce has stressed that Pachuca striker Jared Borgetti is yet to sign a deal with the Premiership club, despite reports in South America which claim otherwise.

Allardyce has admitted an interest in the 31-year old after seeing the player have an excellent summer in the Confederations Cup, but says that reports of a deal being agreed are wide of the mark at this moment.

"Borgetti is a player I would like to bring to the club, but we are still a long way off doing a deal with him, We have found with the South American regime that it is very difficult to strike a deal." said Allardyce.

The Bolton manager revealed that there is a lot of hard bargaining to be done with players from South American clubs as they have all sorts of representatives on their side - some official, others not so official.

"You get all sorts of mixed messages and as soon as there is any interest you are faced with five mandates, four solicitors and a number of agents claiming that they represent the player.

"Trying to do a deal like this is hugely difficult to conclude. We won't have any indication if a deal can be done until the player actually arrives in England. Until then, it is well and truly out of our hands
