Walker To Keep Plugging Away

Veteran goalkeeper Ian Walker will keep plugging away in training in an attempt to earn a new contract with Bolton Wanderers next summer.

The former England international has a contract which lasts until the end of the current season but the performances of number one custodian Jussi Jaaskelainen have seen opportunities for Walker limited since his move from Leicester City last July.

For now the 34-year old accepts the situation in its entirity and says that he will keep working hard and plugging away in training for whenever the opportunity arises for him to play a part in the first team.

"I know I have the rest of the season here. Beyond that I don't know how things are going to pan out. Jussi is having such a good season, and the side is doing very well. I have to accept that is the situation." said Walker

"If someone is doing that well you can't say a great deal about it. I push myself as hard as I can in training, so I am ready whenever the gaffer wants me. I will just keep plugging away and see what comes up."

The ex-Spurs man has played in just a handful of games in cup competitions but has yet to make a Premiership appearance since joining the Wanderers.
