Fraizer on fire

If you'd heard that one of Sunderland's summer signings had scored two, and should have had at least a hat-trick, then chances are you'd think that signing was Darren Bent. However, in this instance we're talking about Fraizer Campbell.

Campbell scored two good goals in Sunderland's 3-0 home FA cup win over Barrow on saturday after Steed Malbranque had opened the scoring for the home side after being setup by a nice flick from Campbell in the 15th minute.

Campbell has mainly played out wide on the right wing since he joined in the summer, but with the injury to KKenwyne Jones he got his chance to play alongside Darren Bent. A chance Campbell grabbed with both fists.

"Fraizer was terrific and I'm delighted for him," said Sunderland manager Steve Bruce, "He's had to be patient and wait for his chance and he hasn't often played down the middle.

"He could have had a hat-trick but let's not be greedy. He's done well in the cups but he would say they are the only time he's played regularly.

"He's only a young boy and we must stick with him."

Sunderland have an away tie in the 4th round to the winners of the replay between Coventry and Portsmouth.

When asked about the 4th round draw Bruce said: "Obviously we'd have preferred a home draw, but it's another challenge for us and we'll be giving it our best shot.

"We've already seen what Portsmouth can do this season when they came up here, and they'll be keen to do well in the competition.

"Coventry obviously did well to get a result there and we know they're a decent side. They will be strong at home.

"Should Coventry get through they'll have the incentive of another crack at a Premier League side.

"I've already said the FA Cup is a priority for us this season and that won't change."
