Yeovil 0-3 Forest - Play Off Revenge

Forest romped to a third consecutive league victory with a resounding 3-0 win away at Yeovil Town, but the result was again more convincing than the performance. Defender Luke Chambers buried his fourth of the season to open the scoring, and superb efforts from Junior Agogo and Kris Commons sealed the result.

Many of the visiting Forest supporters on the open terrace narrowly avoided a soaking as the Somerset rain subsided only shortly prior to kick off. But sadly the first half display was as drab as the earlier weather had been. 

Forest again lined up in a 4-3-3 formation with Kris Commons the sacrificed midfielder, and for 45 minutes the system yielded very little as the visitors struggled for width or attacking outlets. 

Grant Holt in particular seemed lost in his position on the left hand side and frequently drifted inside and into his own half in search of the ball.  

Marcus Stewart and Lloyd Owusu both squandered half chances that resulted from Forest’s cagey defending. But at half time the scores were level and threatening to remain so. 

A similarly scrappy second half was shook to life by Scott Guyett’s solid header which was cleared off the line by Junior Agogo. And just minutes later Forest took the lead. 

Clingan and Holt combined to set up Luke Chambers for his fourth goal of the season. 

It was a lead Forest scarcely deserved, but they made no mistake in taking full advantage of it. 

Kris Commons replaced the quiet Nathan Tyson, who was visibly unhappy with the substitution, and the left winger had an immediate impact with a tricky run and firm shot on goal. 

Agogo was next to be denied by Larrieu, but within minutes he had scored one of the finest goals of his career. The in-form Ghanaian stroked home a sublime 35-yard lob on counter attack, sending the Forest supporters into raptures. 

And Kris Commons sealed the excellent victory as he beautifully volleyed home from an excellent Grant Holt through ball. 

Many Yeovil supporters, including the gentleman with the “where were you at Wembley?” flag, duly left the stadium with “oooo arrrrrr, it’s a massacre” ringing in their ears.  

After a hard-fought day Forest could even have made it 4 before the end; teenager Emile Sinclair’s goalbound strike was accidentally turned away from goal by Grant Holt. But the points were in the bag.
