Out-of-favour midfielder Neil Lennon has joined League Two's Wycombe Wanderers on a free transfer. Lennon was signed in a blaze of publicity during the summer but the former Celtic captain has failed to regain a regular first team place since going AWOL in November.

The former Leicester City star, who was reportedly earning as much as £10,000 per week at the City Ground, joins up with his new club immediately.

Lennon began the season captaining the club but could has featured irregularly since skipping training to make an impromptu return to his girlfriend's home in Scotland.

Rumours surrounding his substantial wage have made it difficult for the Forest faithful to warm to Lennon, but there is likely to be some concern that he will almost certainly not be replaced as the transfer window enters its final hours.

Forest's only signing in the much-anticipated transfer window is the little-known Gareth McCleary, from part-timers Bromley.

A deadline day bid for long-time target Leon Best was rejected at around 11am this morning.

Almost 10 hours later there has been no further reports of activity.
