Hoskins Staying Put - Striker Injury Boost

Nottingham Forest have moved to quash speculation that on-loan hitman Will Hoskins will be making a premature return to Watford. The former Rotherham striker made just two appearances for the Reds before aggravating an injury, sparking rumours that Forest would terminate the deal which lasts until the end of the regular season.

Boss Colin Calderwood had told the press that Hoskins’ injury, which forced him out of the 1-1 draw with Leeds at Elland Road, was ‘worse than first thought’.

But talk of him returning to Watford has been dismissed, and the injury is now said to be under control.

Calderwood said: “There's been quite a dramatic improvement in Will's condition and the way things are looking at the moment he could be back on the training ground before the end of the week.

“The Carlisle game on Monday might come too quickly for him but if all goes well we would certainly look to have him back in contention sooner rather than later.”

Aspects of the media reported this week that Hoskins would soon be sent back to Vicarage Road in order to free up wages at the City Ground, but Calderwood has stated that any contact with the London club is only a formality.

“There seemed to be a story going around that we were looking to send Will back to Watford but that's certainly not the case. As he is still Watford's player we were keen to inform them of his injury problem but that was a common courtesy.”

Forest have the option of signing Nottingham-born Hoskins permanently for a pre-arranged fee, believed to be around £500,000.

With Nathan Tyson also out for a further five weeks the club has been linked to further loan signings, including Derby County’s Robert Earnshaw.
