According to Sky sports, Everton are keeping close tabs on Manchester City starlet Nedum Onuoha.

The England Under-21 star has been unable to agree a new deal with Mark Hughes’ side, despite being in talks for a number of weeks now.

The news breaks just after City placed a bid for Joleon Lescott earlier in the month, but the deal was turned down by the Toffees, now they might use Onuoha as a tempter when trying to get Lescott.

But Everton will face a fight to land the youngster, Aston Villa are said to be interested along with Tottenham.

So should City decide to let Onuoha depart Eastlands, a bidding battle will almost certainly be triggered.

Crafty move, they should be able to get the lad for next to nothing if they are that keen to get Lescott
