News: Everton, Villa, Spurs and Citeh chase Bassong

It is being reported that Everton have entered the race to sign Sebastien Bassong along with Aston Villa and Manchester City after Newcastle rejected Spurs bid of £10 million for the player.

Bassong joined Newcastle for £500,000 a year ago so £10 million is some offer to turn down.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp denied making the bid, although reports have it that a bid from the club went in but Newcastle want £12 million.

The 22-year-old faces a fine after failing to travel to Newcastle's pre-season fixture against Dundee United.
