Everton received a boost today with the news that Jo could well be available for the season’s opening game on Saturday against Arsenal.

After limping out of a friendly game against Blackpool in pre season, it was feared that the on loan Manchester City player would be out for the start of the new season.

But the Brazilian’s injury has responded to treatment and as he now is back in training, word is he will be fit to face Arsenal.

A confident David Moyes told Sky Sports: "When Jo went over on his ankle, we did not really think it was that bad, so we hope that he is going to be okay for the weekend.

"He is back running now but is only doing straight line work. He is not twisting and turning yet but we hope to do that kind of work with him in the next couple of days."
