News: Rodwell on history making night

Young Everton star Jack Rodwell has spoken about the double he hit last night in the game against SK Sigma Olormouc and said “It was the best moment of my career so far”.

Everton’s young midfielder hit two stunning goals in the 4-0 win which puts them well in command ahead of the second leg.

Rodwell created history again last night when he became Everton’s youngest European scorer.

“It’s brilliant to break records and be in the history books but the most important thing was getting the win,” said Rodwell to the Liverpool Echo.

“Once the first goal went in, we all lifted our games and you could see the confidence coming through in our passing.

“This was a massively important game for us, one that we had to win to stay in the competition, so to score and make a big contribution makes it the best night of my career.

“But we have got to keep moving forward. We might have a good lead but the tie isn’t over. We’ve got a 4-0 lead and we’ve got to keep it.”
