Heitinga signs a four year deal

Everton have completed the signing of Dutch defender Johnny Heitinga for a fee of £6.2 million

The player arrives on a four year contract from Atletico Madrid.

The 25-year-old Holland international arrived at Everton's Finch Farm training ground on Monday to seal the deal after agreeing terms with the club yesterday.

Heitinga joined Atletico from Ajax last summer and has made almost 50 international appearances.

Heitinga has been handed Joleon Lescott old number five shirt.
