Birmingham Chairman Gold blasts Boro

David Gold has stated that he would prefer Birmingham's unstable record of sliding between the Premier League and Championship then the mid-table consistency of the Boro. Therefore Keith Lamb has rightly responded with a statement meriting our achievements (UEFA cup finalists 2006, Carling Cup Winners 2004) and has suggested that Birmingham fans would much rather be in our position then their own.

While it is apparent that the last couple of seasons may not have been the most exciting we have seen as Boro fans, this season we may perhaps be filled with a new-found optimism after a couple of seasons of consolidation and great change under Gareth Southgate. Entering our 11th consecutive season in the league is a massive step for Middlesbrough FC, when contrasted with our not so long gone turbulent past, accumulating with the liquidation of the club in 1986. I think every Boro fan would still insist they are proud of what this club has achieved in the subsequent 22 years. Birmingham may have little to celebrate, while at Boro the team has a distinct look that it may be going places with the current young squad, and I for one hope we are in the Premiership for many years to come.
