Middlesbrough ease past Yeovil at the Riverside.

Emnes - Home Debut

The Boro turned in five goals past Yeovil Town on a dreary night at the Riverside which sealed their entry through to the next round of the Carling Cup. Goals came from Mido, Digard, Aliadiere, Emnes and Adam Johnson, with Yeovil's Tomlin scoring just before half time to cast perhaps somewhat of dent on an otherwise impressive performance.

There was an air of excitement at the Riverside, which was further reflected by the large turnout of 15,651, and there is a real sense that fans are excited about the potential future of the club. This excitement was reflected through a display of slick, fast and flowing football form Boro's youthful squad, particularly impressive was Didier Digard who was successful in breaking up the Yeovil play with ease, and the scorer of an accomplished 30-yard shot.

Justin Hoyte also made his first team start, and put in a solid performance at right back, yet however one or two miscommunications were perhaps evident but appeared to be merely down to a lack of match experience in recent games. Boro will be looking to take this momentum into the Stoke game on Saturday, after bitter disappointment at Anfield last week.

It was a good night. Great to be at the back of the North Stand - there when some new songs were tried out - not all of them successful!

5-1 against Stoke would be good - a clean sheet and a win even better!

Looks like we'll have a good sized crowd for the Stoke game - with maybe 4000 away fans from the Potteries - and a good home turnout.

We've got to make this a must win game - no more 0-1s like Reading last season.

C'mon Boro!

It's funny how good it feels to have Lawro start his piece with "I love Middlesbrough". He's predicting that we'll beat Stoke 2-0.

Hope so - these are the games we need to win. Big crowd promised - C'mon Boro.

I attended the Yeovil game earlier this year, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me the song they were playing after every Boro goal. It wasn't the pigbag one, but it had a similar sound.

It's "Reach Up" but we can't remember the name of the band.... gets the crowd going and warms the hands - it was freezing yesterday. It also drowns out the travelling support.

The only tune at the end was booing unfortunately.
