Reserves beaten by Blackburn

Hull reserve were beaten again Wednesday night. This time losing to Blackburn. Once again City fielded a very young side with only Nicky Featherstone having any real first team experience. Mark Oxley, Nathan Doyle and John Welsh dropped out of the side that lost 2-1 at Sunderland with Tom Woodhead taking over in goal and Joe Lamplough and Nathan Hanley coming into the defence.
The visitors took the lead on 5 minutes , julio Santa Cruz doing all the hard work for Alan Judge to tap in. Rovers doubled their lead on 20 minutes when Aaron Doran unleashed a right foot shot into the top corner from just outside the box.
Five minutes before the break a sudden flashpoint occurred in the City box. Josh O'Keefe went down in the box under a challenge from Nick McNamara and the Rovers player appeared to obstruct the City midfielder from playing the ball. McNamara's kick caught O'Keefe, who immediately jumped up and retaliated by shoving McNamara.
Referee Varley brandished both players the red card and then
apparently ignored the initial obstruction and awarded Blackburn a
penalty, which was confidently despatched by Judge.
Rovers made it 4 on 67 minutes when Alex Marrow's cross was cleared to the edge of the box and Doran drilled a right foot shot low past Woodhead. Within a minute City pulled a goal back with Tom Cairney's left foot strike from the edge of the box beating Bunn.
2 minutes later however Rovers restored their 4 goal advantage and scored their fifth of the night when Santa Cruz got on the end of a ball into the box and neatly tucked the ball past Woodhead.
