Hull v Stoke Report

Hull took on Stoke at the Britannia stadium looking for their 1st win in 5 games. Having Drawn their last two. Fans were hopeful of getting that vital win. Stoke However are in pretty good form and wouldn't be push overs on their own patch. It was a quiet start to the game and very scrappy. With neither side really getting in their stride. It took 14 minutes for either side to get a shot at goal.

When the chance finally did come it fell to Stoke . Salif Diao hitting a shot from 25 yards which he sent wide. Hull then Came into the game and had their first shot on 16 minutes Marlon King from 20 yards which hit Griffin and went for a Corner. Both sides were playing it long and neither teams Midfield were getting time on the ball. The game continued in the same fashion with neither side creating any chances. Hull got the break through in added time at the end of the first half. A Cross field ball headed down at the back post by Turner for King to pass it into the top corner Totally against the run of play.

A half of few chances very scrappy game with both sides conceding alot of free kicks.

It took 15 minutes of the second half for the first chance which Fell to Dean Marney who's shot was weak and easy for Sorensen. This game however was nothing to write home about and it didn't come to life again until the 70th minute. Stoke won a Penalty Myhill ran out when Fuller was played through and took non of the ball. Fuller took the penalty himself and although not the best penalty it went under Myhill's left hand and into the net.

78 minutes gone and for the 1st time in the game Geovanni had a sight at goal narrowly sending a shot wide. The last 10 minutes of the game and with both sides looking for a winner neither could create any clear cut chance as the game fizzled out. Sidide probably having the best effort but his 20 yard shot was straight down the throat of Myhill who gathered at the second attempt.

Scrappy game throughout with very few clear cut chances.


Hull Remain 6th in the table despite having failed to win in 6 games. Stoke remain 14th. This is the 3rd game out of 3 the two sides that have drawn  1-1

Stoke boss Tony Pulis: 
"When you go a goal down in the Premier League it is very difficult to come back.

"I was pleased with the character of the lads in the second half, their effort and commitment was first class.

"We deserved at least a point, and we are disappointed not to win it. In the final third at times we need that little bit more to open teams up."

Hull manager Phil Brown:
"We stood up to them physically which you have to do when you play Stoke.

"We are three games undefeated in the Premier League albeit that they are three draws.

"The refereeing decision which gave them their equaliser has cost us two points.

"But I am disappointed we did not play as well as we can."
