Hull v Man City report

Hull travelled to Eastlands looking to bounce back from the 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Sunderland last time out . Manchester City we're in a poor run of form which has seen them slip into the relegation zone. The two sides met only a month ago at the Kc stadium the score ended 2-2 on that occasion. Manchester city started well and had a chance after just 2 minutes Robinho firing over the bar.

Hull had their 1st opportunity on 6 minutes Marlon King firing a shot which was saved by Joe Hart. Manchester City then began to pile on the pressure but didn't have their shooting boots on as their we're creating the chances but couldn't find the target. Manchester City did find the break through on 15 minutes though, Robinho's chip found Ireland on the right hand side on the box and his pass across the face of goal found Caicedo he turned the ball into the net 1-0 .

The Manchester City pressure Continued as Hull struggled to keep up with the pace, Robinho having a shot which Myhill tipped over the bar. Hull then enjoyed a mini spell of pressure but couldn't create any chances. Manchester City made it 2-0 on 27 minutes Caicedo scoring once again after some nice play by Ireland. It was 3-0 just a minute later Ireland again setting up the goal this time passing through midfield for Robinho who from the edge of the box placed the ball past Myhill.  

Hull Made a substitution on 35 minutes as defensively they struggled. Doyle Replaced Boateng. The substitution was in vain however has just a minute later Manchester City went 4-0 up, Wright-Phillips burst down the right and his low cross was met by Robinho who tap hoem for his second of the game. Hull now seemed out of the game but were still trying to get forward but couldn't get past the Manchester City defence.

At half time Phil Brown made his team talk on the pitch a somewhat strange way to react to been 4-0 down.

A positive for Hull at the start of the second half was the return of Craig Fagan who replaced dean Windass. There wasn't Much urgency in the second half from Manchester City but been 4-0 up who could blame them. Hull did improve but to be honest their couldn't have been any worse . The second half goals came in the final 10 minutes . First Craig Fagan Pulling 1 back for Hull on 80 minutes, Cousins from the left had a shot which was parried by Hart, the ball fell to fagan who turned the ball in .

It didn't take long for Manchester City to regain their 4 goal lead though, Stephen Ireland who has caused Problems all day for Hull scored Man City's 5th, Robinho cut in from the left and squared the ball to Ireland who smashed the ball into the top corner of the goal.

The result means Hull slip to 7th in the table and means their have concede 9 goals in their last 2 games worrying stuff for Phil Browns men. Manchester City move up to 15th but are still only a point off the relegation zone.

Hull boss Phil Brown:
"Our mentality was just not there, it was wrong. We gifted them a first goal and we then went to gift them a second, a third and a fourth.

"It was unacceptable behaviour, an unacceptable performance from a Phil Brown side and I am bitterly disappointed."

[On his on-field half-time talk]: "I thought it was nice and cold and I thought I would keep the boys alive because they looked as if they were dead.

"Our 4,000 travelling fans deserved some kind of explanation for the first-half performance and it was difficult for me to do that from the confines of a changing room.

"We owed them an apology for the first-half performance."

Manchester City boss Mark Hughes:
"When we're on the front foot, the quality of our attacking play is there for all to see.

"But what we haven't been able to do is produce that on a consistent basis.

"We have had occasions in recent weeks where we have disappointed. We have got quality in the side but collective and individual errors haven't allowed us to play with the freedom with have today.
