Hull are said to be interested in signing Sunderland midfielder Dean Whitehead. Whitehead started his career working his way up through the ranks at Oxford United and joined Sunderland in the summer months of 2004. The midfielder has played 16 times this season in the league and has also made 4 cup appearances.

Whitehead is currently Sunderland Captain and it its thought that he would cost a few Million. Phil Brown has confirmed that the club has made an enquiry for the player.

Doubt Whitehead will be available:
* He's our club captain
* We don't have good cover for his position
* He's one of the better players (sbragia doesn't want to sell) - when compared to leadbitter, murphy, miller.

You'd only get him for silly money, which I'm afraid he's not worth.

As you say 5 mil would probably do it, but he's not worth that.

The only reason Whitehead has played so much this season is because Tainio is so fragile.

He's never been a favourite of mine but I would be gutted if we did sell him.

But can't really see us selling anyone to a team we're going to be battling with to stay in the league.

think Sbragia has made that clear he doesn't want to have his players on loan at relegation rivals and staying up is worth more then 5 Mil .

With him been Captain i very much doubt he would demand a move if the bids are rejected

Nah I think Deano is pretty much part of the fabric that is SAFC nowadays.

Has to be one of the current players that's been at the club the longest.

Not the best player but he works himself into the ground every game.
