Brown To Stick By Strikers

Phil Brown believes it only a matter of time before his side start scoring goals . Hull have not won in 5 games and have only scored 2 goals in them matches. "There are a lot of question marks flying around surrounding our ability to score a goal at the moment," Brown told the Hull Daily Mail.

"On average we're having 12 or 13 shots a game but we're not hitting the target enough and that in itself is something that needs to change.

"Kevin Kilbane was the only player to really work the goalkeeper at Sunderland but George Boateng and Caleb Folan went very close.

"We've had opportunities but we're just not working the opposition goalkeepers enough at the moment.

"If we continue to have 12 or 13 shots a game, eventually the tide will turn, confidence and belief in front of goal will return when we get that goal."

Brown was also quick to point out that to get a striker who can score 20-30 goals a season costs money which Hull simply don't have.

Goalscorers at this level are priceless and everyone of them at the top of the goalscoring charts will be in at least the £15m bracket," he said.

"Our leading goalscorer is Geovanni with seven and he's a free transfer.

"But finding that quality in the final third is a lot to do with the team's performance, it's not just about your strikers.

"You look at five games on Saturday, there was only five goals, there's just not an awful lot of goals around at the moment, but it's up to us to find that quality in the final third."
