"I would love to return to Aston Villa " Boateng

Midfielder George Boateng believes Aston Villa will give Hull plenty of chances to score on Monday night. The Former Villa man also admitted on his personal blog that he would love to return to Villa before he hangs up his boots.

"We prepared very well for the game against Liverpool and we were very hopeful of winning it because Liverpool played a hard game in midweek against Arsenal so we knew they might run out of steam in the last 15 minutes.

We played well and the game plan worked until the 44th minute when the referee gave a free kick against me or Michael turner – which of us we still don´t know.

The free kick that led to Xabi Alonso´s goal has been the talking point because that changed the game. It also won the game for Liverpool because we then had to give space away and throw more players forward to get at least a point. With the quality players Liverpool have that is not what you want to do because they will open you up and score.

I personally feel it was not a free kick because Javier Mascherano was already on his way to the ground before I made contact. I don´t blame the player but the ref should be able to see that because players are now all good actors when it comes to winning free kicks.

We went in 0-1 down at half time but it didn´t sway my belief that we could still win the game if we scored quickly.

The second half was disappointing because we lost Caleb Folan to a red card for a dangerous foul. We will miss him for three games now. Before we realised it we were 0-2 down. We kept on fighting and we even got back to 1-2 with ten men. But Liverpool soon killed the game with Dirk Kuyt scoring his second goal.

Liverpool was the better side and they deserved the win but I was very pleased with our team spirit because we need that to survive in this division.

We are playing my old team Aston Villa this Monday. What a game it will be – there is so much at stake for both teams and I feel the whole team is looking forward to it.

First I would like to stress that I see this game as a challenge. I have no fears about facing Villa because sometimes in life you get a moment were you have to perform if you want to be successful. So my mantra for the game against Aston villa is ‘I have no fear and I will be courageous’.

Villa Park is a difficult place to go because they play good football. They have pace with Gabi Agbonlahor and Ashley Young but they are not great in defence because they like to press high up the pitch so that you cannot reach their defence. But if we can pass through then we will have opportunities to score.

My time at Aston villa was great. I spent three wonderful seasons there. Although we didn´t win the FA Cup Final against Chelsea it was still a great time to be at Aston Villa.

I enjoyed playing with the likes of David Ginola and Benni Carbone, Paul Merson and Mustapha Hagi – they were very talented players.

The only player I played with at Aston villa who is still there is Gareth Barry. He has become a wonderful player. He has developed so well but that does not surprise me because back then Gareth was a centre-back. John Gregory moved him into midfield because we could see that he could do much better there. Its great to see him fulfil that.

When I was at Aston villa I had a great relationship with the Villa fans. I expect the usual reception when we start the game: “Booooo!” But for some reason it always motivate me to try harder and play better. Villa Park has been a good ground for me to visit as I have scored a few there so I will be looking forward to the game.

I believe the Villa fans have never forgiven for leaving the club so unexpectedly. That hurt them and I will try to explain my reasons once more.

I left because I didn´t feel the club was going to win something in the near future. There were many problems behind closed doors that led to many players not being happy including myself. That affected me on and off the pitch and led to me not feeling appreciated at Aston Villa.

One thing led to another and there came a moment when I said, “Enough is enough.” The bucket was full of problems and I couldn´t find a solution so I had to seek a new challenge.

Having said that I was grateful for my time at Aston Villa. I enjoyed it very much. Normally I would prefer not to return to play for an old club but if there is a club I would break that rule for it would definitely be Villa. I would love to return to Aston Villa before I hang up my boots because my family was also very happy in the Midlands.

Aston villa have a new owner and a wonderful manager. It looks like all the problems from my time has been solved and the club is moving forward.
I have to thank Hull City fans for their support. I have not seen anything like it in a long time. The way they turn up at away games and the support they give us is the best I have experienced in a long time.

At Middlesbrough and Sunderland the supporters came in huge numbers. I’m sure they will be there at Villa Park so we will do whatever it takes not to disappoint them. It will make me so happy if we can send them home with three points.
