Hull step up Harewood Interest

Hull boss Phil Brown is looking to add Marlon Harewood to his strike force next season. Hull are looking to strenghten their striking options having scored only 47 goals in all competitions last season. Hull will face competion from Middlesbrough and a host of unnamed clubs.

Harewood failed to start a singkle game in the premiership last season and spent the latter months of it on loan at Wolves. The 29 year old only joined Aston Villa FRom West Ham at the start of last season but with the arrival of Heskey and the emergence of youngster Nathan Delfouneso he fell well down the pecking order.

Harewood's representative, Phil Sproson, admits the duo are among a host of clubs chasing the forward.

"I think it is most likely Marlon will move on this summer," Sproson told skysports.com.

"He is keen to be playing regular first-team football and he accepts the situation at Villa.

"There are a number of clubs interested in Marlon, including Hull and Middlesbrough, but nothing has been decided yet.

"It depends on whether any interested club can agree a deal with Aston Villa before anything can happen."

Boss phil Bown added to the spectulation by saying

"Players with Premier League experience would interest us and Marlon Harewood is that type of player.

"He's got good ability and he's a big and powerful forward. He is the type of player that we are looking for and there's interest from us."

Brown though refused to comment on if the club had palced an offer for the player a fee of £1.5 million is believed to be enough for Villa to sell
