Vincent closes in on Dons move

Cheltenham forward Ashley Vincent is edging closer to a move to the Dons after the player himself admitted Dons were his destination of choice, and the news on a knee injury Vincent had recently picked up was good.

Cheltenham manager Martin Allen admitted that Vincent had probably played his last game for the Robins at the weekend and only personal terms need to be discussed for the move to be completed. Ashley will join the Dons on loan until the end of the season with a view to a permanent move. The forward is out of contract at Cheltenham in the summer, but it is unclear whether a fee will be involved in order for the Dons to take him on loan - it seems unlikely given that Cheltenham's financial situation has forced them to put their whole squad up for sale in order to cut their wage bill.

Speaking to the Gloucester Citizen, Ashley said:

"MK Dons are waiting for the radiologist's report on my knee injury, which I have seen and it's all fine and if anything it's a little better than expected.

"So I will be going to talk to them, hopefully later this week and I'm hoping to get something done soon.

"I have a chance to join a side pushing for the Championship and I am obviously happy with the situation."
