Preview: Millwall (H)

Dons are likely to be without Saturday's two-goal hero Sam Baldock for Tuesday night's key clash against Millwall, with either Ali Gerba or Jemal Johnson set to step in. The Lions hope to have Lewis Grabban fit.

Baldock has been struggling with a tight hamstring over the last couple of days and faces a late fitness test. Danny Swailes and Tore Andre Flo remain sidelined with respective achilles and calf injuries.

If manager Roberto Di Matteo decides to switch to 4-5-1 for a very tough fixture Johnson should start on the left, with Jason Puncheon and Luke Chadwick interchangeable on the right or in the hole behind a lone striker, likely to be Aaron Wilbraham. If he sticks with a 4-4-2 Gerba should partner Wilbraham in attack with Johnson remaining on the bench.

Millwall hope to have Grabban available for selection, and the pacy forward can operate either up front or on the wing. He will face stiff competition though in the form of Neil Harris and Gary Alexander for a probable role as a lone striker; for the past three games Alexander has started up front with wide support from the on-loan James Henry and Dave Martin. Vincent Pericard, who was on loan from Stoke, has had his season ended by injury while former Don Izale McLeod is discussing a return to the club after a bust-up with Lions manager Kenny Jackett but is unlikely to be available in time for a return to Milton Keynes.

Elsewhere for Millwall Marc Laird and Adam Bolder will face late fitness tests on respective hamstring and back injuries.

Millwall's home form of late has maybe been disappointing but on the road they have continued to chase the Dons and Peterborough for the second automatic promotion spot with some good results. They have won their last three away from the Den against Huddersfield, Southend and Cheltenham and home and away Saturday's 0-1 defeat to table-toppers Leicester City was the end of a three match winning run.

Dons are unbeaten in eight but their emphatic 6-2 victory over Oldham on Saturday followed four consecutive draws. Performances have been good of late however and the Dons have rarely looked like losing, even if they have sometimes struggled to take the chances that will win them games. They have also, however, been very unlucky, with a soft, to say the least, free-kick costing them a win against Leicester amongst other questionable decisions and bad luck.

The two sides met earlier in the season at the Den, and Dons turned in an excellent performance to thrash the Lions 4-0 and really announce themselves as promotion contenders. Luke Chadwick starred on his debut, with Sean O'Hanlon, Sam Baldock (2) and a Paul Robinson own goal handing the Dons the points.

In the 2003/04 season, as Wimbledon but in Milton Keynes, the Dons fell to a 0-1 loss at the National Hockey Stadium, now-Everton midfielder Tim Cahill scoring the only goal. Earlier in the season, three days after Wimbledon's final match at Selhurst Park, Millwall beat the Dons 0-2 at the Den, with Neil Harris and Noel Whelan bagging the goals. It was a match that featured a midfield battle between Millwall's Cahill and Dennis Wise and Dons' now Aston Villa man Nigel Reo-Coker.

With McLeod unlikely to feature there are no ex-MK players in Millwall's squad. Dons 'keeper Willy Gueret initially moved to England with a switch from Le Mans to the Den, but only made 16 appearances in four years before joining Swansea.

The referee for Tuesday's match will be Mr M Haywood. He took charge of the Dons' 2-2 away draw at Crewe Alexandra earlier this season, as well as our 4-0 win at home to Dagenham and Redbridge last season. In the 2006/07 season he also refereed our 0-1 away loss at Darlington. He will be assisted by Mr M C Dexter and Mr M F Thompson. The fourth official will be Mr S J Phipps.
