Vincent set for Us switch

Cheltenham Town's Ashley Vincent looks set to join Colchester United on loan with a view to a permanent move, only a week after stating that he hoped to conclude a move to Milton Keynes. The forward is out of contract at the end of the season and Cheltenham are looking to cut their wage bill.

Last week Vincent told the Gloucestershire press that he would be talking to the Dons about a move and that he was "hoping to get something done soon", expressing his pleasure at being able to join "a side pushing for the Championship". But it seems either the Dons have been put off by Vincent's possible proneness to injury or that Colchester boss Paul Lambert has talked him round because he now looks likely to be joining the Us.

Speaking to the club website, Cheltenham manager Martin Allen said:

"It's no surprise to me that Ashley is moving on. It looks like he is going to a very progressive club in Colchester United."
