Palace weighing up loan move for Wright

Championship outfit Crystal Palace have this week invited Dons winger Mark Wright to train with them with a view to signing the player on loan until the end of the season. Wright is out of contract in the summer and looks unlikely to extend his stay in Milton Keynes.

Wright, 27, is a player that has shown ability but not often enough during his stay in Milton Keynes. He scored 13 league goals from the right wing last season but it was a case of goals not telling the whole story, as he frequently went missing on the pitch. To his credit, he did turn in a couple of barnstorming performances to show where the 13 goals came from, but the consistency was never there.

The Evening Standard reports that Wright turning down a contract extension beyond the summer as the reason he has fallen out of favour, but with only three goals this season the same very mixed form made him a less than indispensable asset.

Wright is looking to impress Palace manager Neil Warnock this week to earn a loan move until the end of the season, and the Eagles would have an option to make that deal permanent for no fee in the summer with Wright set to leave the club.
