Dons have today completed the loan signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers' Stephen Gleeson on loan until the end of the season. The midfielder has previously spent time on loan at Stockport County and was part of their promotion winning side last season.
Gleeson, a 20-year old central midfield player, is a Republic of Ireland U21 international - and has also made two appearances for the full Irish team - and so will be unavailable for Dons' trip to Leeds United this Saturday as Ireland U21s face Spain on Friday followed by Turkey on Tuesday.
On the fringes of the Wolves' first team, he has made three senior appearances for the Midlands side, and has spent most of his career so far out on loan. In the 2006/07 season he began his first spell at Stockport, making 14 appearances and scoring two goals. The following season he made four appearances while on loan at Hereford before returning to Stockport and featuring in a further nine games, including last season's playoff final, scoring one goal, a stunning volley against Wycombe Wanderers in the playoff semi-finals.
He returned to Stockport earlier this season and made 21 league appearances, scoring two goals.
Stephen will provide competition mainly for Peter Leven in the centre of midfield, as fatigue starts to set in amongst the Dons players in the closing stages of the season. He will be available to feature in the playoffs if required.
