Alcock Confirmed As Captain

After wearing the armband for much of last season, Craig Alcock has been awarded full-time captaincy for the 2010-11 season.

Last season, team captain Stefan Stam was restricted to just 20 league games, after a series of injuries, whilst club captain Scott Murray failed to force his way into the starting XI.

This resulted in Alcock tacking over the captaincy, despite being at such a young age.

Talking to BBC Radio Somerset Terry Skiverton said: "Craig is going to stay (as captain). I think he's had a year now. Stefan has done a fantastic job, but the injuries had blighted him. But Craig has come to the fore now as a localish boy in his recent past. Craig makes a great captain. He's a great role model around the town and he took it with both hands. So as of the start of the season, Craig will be first team captain along with being the new club captain."
