Darren has a 'Way'le of a time

Darren Way has spoken to the Western Daily Press about the elation he felt at coming on as a 89th minute substitute, alongside fellow coach and best friend, Terry Skiverton.

Speaking of his cameo appearance and the bumper crowd of over 6,600, Way described the atmosphere as incredible: "I had been looking forward to it and words cannot describe how I feel, especially with the turnout and support. I could not have had a better way to end my football career. I got a touch of the ball, the gaffer played me in and I tried to play it with the outside of my left boot. As you can see, I am nowhere near as mobile as I used to be, but from where I was the noise from the crowd was incredible. I have had my best memories at Yeovil Town Football Club and it means so much for me to share those memories here, end my career here, with those supporters and the whole community." 

 

'Weasel' also hailed Manchester United reserve team manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: "I take my hat off to Ole and everyone at Manchester United because they are a credit to the club. For them to come down and play for me in a benefit game, I cannot think of a better way to end my career."
