The Adam Stansfield Foundation have appointed a Patron of the Foundation.
The man they have named is the Premier League referee Mark Halsey who may seem an unlikely choice to those who don't know of his experience.
Halsey missed most of the Premier League 2009-10 season as he battled a cancerous tumour in his throat. Fortunately, Mark has battled back and has now been reinstalled as a Premier League Referee.
The Adam Stansfield Foundation aims to help youth football in Devon and Somerset as this is where Adam began his footballing career. On top of this they hope to raise further money for their cause along with raising awareness of cancer.
Speaking to Exeter's Official Site Halsey had this to say:
"I am pleased to be able to offer what support I can to Andy and the Trustees. Although I am based many miles away I want to take an active role where possible, if through supporting this cause I can help with youth football and raise awareness about cancer then this will be time well spent."
