Skiverton Reflects on Away Day Defeat

Yeovil manager Terry Skiverton has reflected on Saturday's game against Brighton & Hove Albion at the Withdean. 

The Glovers lost out 2-0 and fielded a different starting eleven due to injuries and illness.

Skiverton adopted a diamond formation to try and contain the Seagulls, who so far this season have been prolific in front of goal. Speaking to BBC Radio Somerset Skiverton reflected on this:

"I was really impressed with the way we pressed Brighton early in the game and I wouldn't have thought teams have done that against them too often. We tried to make life difficult for them and gave them something to think about because they changed their system in the first-half. We are tactically aware against the bigger teams and our game-plan worked up to a point."

The Yeovil manager did concede that once you lose concentration against top teams they will punish you:

"They are top of the table for a reason though and play very good football. Unfortunately we switched off twice and were punished by two goals. That's what happens when you go to the top teams."

Several key players were missing, with Virgo and Alcock missing out through injury whilst Shaun MacDonald missed out through illness. Owain Tudur Jones had to fill in at centre back as Ed Upson made his first start for the Glovers.

"We had some important players out today but we still went into the game to be competitive and believing we could win. In the end we came up a little bit short but I'm pleased with the players and we'll stick together and go again against Swindon next week."

Next weekends game looks to be an important fixture, not only as Yeovil have to return to winning ways, but a Yeovil win could see them switch places with Swindon and jump up to 15th position.
