Terry Skiverton has stated that his side deserved the win, earning him his first cup victory as manager of Yeovil Town.
The Glovers defeated Rushden & Diamonds 1-0 at Nene Park, with a controversial Andy Williams goal providing the win.
Despite the controversy, Skiverton stated his side deserved to commence to the second round:
"If you go by the number of clear-cut chances that we created then I would say, yes we deserved to win, although it took a contentious decision. I'm taking the Arsene Wenger route and saying I didn't get a clear view of it. We got a little bit of fortune but I think on the overall play of the game it would have been a travesty if we hadn't come away with at least a replay. I had assumed the goal had been disallowed but I spoke to the fourth official and he said he wasn't interfering with play."
Yeovil will now await tomorrow afternoons second round draw on ITV, with the Glovers possessing ball number 20.
