Reserves Romp Royals

The Glovers accepted an invitation from Reading to take part in a reserve game friendly, a decision which proved fruitful after claiming a 4-2 win. 

The Royals fielded a relatively strong side, with  former loanee Alex McCarthy starting in goal of a side consisting of Alex Pearce, Shaun Cummings, Michail Antonio, Hal Robson-Kanu, Jay Tabb and Chris Armstrong. 

A concern in recent weeks voiced from the fans has been the lack of reserve games for the Glovers, halting some fringe players development. 

However, it seemed no harm had been done the squad players who recorded an impressive 4-2 victory. 

Regular Adam Virgo grabbed a brace with youngsters Luke Freeman and Craig Calver also getting on the score sheet. 

Asides from the result the game also gave Craig Alcock, Nathan Smith and new loan signing Adam Phillip a chance to boost their fitness and match sharpness, ahead of an important league game away at Charlton this coming Saturday. 

All-in-all it was a welcomed victory, even if it was only a reserve fixture...
