Motherwell made it nine League games without defeat at Inverness yesterday to consolidate theiur position in the top six.
Brian McLean made his long awaited return from injury to replace the suspended Paul Quinn and played exceptionally well putting pressure on Quinn when his suspension is over.
Up front McGhee paired Sheridan with Sutton moving Clarkson out to right midfield, while both strikers scored it was a bit harsh on Clarkson who looked a fish out of water in that position. While Marc Fitzpatrick isn't everybody's favourite player he is a midfielder and gives us balance in the midfield four.
The game started with both sides struggling to retain possession although we did create a number of chances with Hammell and Hughes coming close with shots from narrow angles.
It was no real surprise when a mistake led to the opening goal, Craigan's long free kick was missied by Munro and keeper Esson allowing Sutton the chance to stroke into an empty net from 18 yards out for his 8th goal of the season.
It looked as though we would take the lead into the break until some sloppy defending allowed ICT to equalise. The Well defence faiiled to deal with a Balck corner and the ball fell kindly for Grant Munro to smash the ball high into the net.
The seemed to lift the home side who started the second half well but their own sloppiness allowed Well to take the lead. McLean's long ball wasn't dealt with by Munro allowing Sheridan to bend the ball high past Esson for his first goal for the club.
Invenress huffed and puffed (Terry Butcher's words) from then on without really cutting us open, although I did think Adam Rooney should've done better with two chances that fell to him late on.
Another professional performanc that sets up a big game with Hearts on Wednesday as we look to keep in with a chance of a European place.
