More poor finishing saw Motherwell dominate another game but fail to take all three points
We knew that three points would see us move into the top six as Hibs had already drawn with Dundee United in the early kick off. At half time it looked as though the players had been inspired by this result as they went in 1-0 up, although there was always the nagging doubt one wouldn't be enough.
The goal we did score in the first half was a personal triumph for Jim O'Brien as he bagged his first for the club. He linked with Quinn on the right before cutting inside to link with Clarkson before firing in a deflected shot past Langfield.
It should've been two at the break but Quinn somehow manged to send a free header wide just before the break.
Even at the start of the second half we could've been further ahead with Clarkson missing twice and McLean heading over. In the end we were punished for this again when Maguire lashed in a flick on from Miller.
Even against ten men in the last 20 minutes Well struggled to make any real chances although Langfield did pull off a stunning save in stoppage time to ensure a draw for his own side.
After the game Mark McGhee felt it was still a point gained and that we were still in the mix for the top six. I'm not so sure, this really was another huge opportunity missed, and it looks as though we are heading for five poor games to finish the season!
