George Burley today named four Motherwell players in his B Squad to play against Northern Ireland next week.
Scotland boss George Burley named four Motherwell players in his B squad for the game with Northern Ireland at Broadwood next Wednesday.
The four are; David Clarkson, Stephen Hughes, Mark Reynolds and Steven Hammell.
There is no surprise in the selection of Clarkson, Hughes and Reynolds, all have done well over the last two years for Well. Hammell is a bit more of a surprise given his lack of consistency since his return from Southend.
For Reynolds it is a natural progression from Under 19, 20 and 21s through to the B side, and the same for Clarkson given he has been on the fringe of the full side for some time.
There are also a couple of Well players who may be thinking how they have missed out. Keeper Graeme Smith is left out behind David Marshall and Iain Turner, even though he has had a decent season again for Well.
I would also have thought Paul Quinn would have had a decent shout but he is left out behind Darren Barr and Mark Wilson. One has lost form this season and the other has hardly played!
Full squad.
