Motherwell strolled to a 3-0 win over local rivals Accies who, thanks to other results were guaranteed SPL football next season
Accies had much of the territorial advantage in the first half but it was the Well who took the lead in the 22nd minute. The Accies defence was post missing as Cillian Sheridan broke down the left, and he chose to shoot rather than square to Jamie Murphy. Cerny's save rebounded to Sheridan and this time he picked out Clarkosn who slotted home from 10 yards out.
The Accies did have a good chance before the break but Derek Lyle's effort was cleared off the line by the chest of debutant Shaun Hutchinson despite the desperate claims for a penalty from the Accies fan.
Motherwell started the second half on the front foot and doubled their lead on 58 minutes and it was disaster for Cerny in the Accies goal. Hughes played in a simple cross to the front post which the keeper failed to handle allowing Sheridan to tap home from close range.
The biggest cheer of the afternoon came from the home fans when Kevin Kyle scored for Kilmarnock, a goal that secured SPL football for the Accies. They didn't even seem too bothered when Well made it 3-0 with four minutes left.
Sheridan left Mensing for dead on the left edge of the box before picking out Sutton only a few yards from goal for a simple finish.
It was bizarre to witness the celebrations of the Accies fans at the end of the game following a 3-0 defeat.
It was an easy win for Well against a side that should've been well up for it.
