SPL Fixtures announced today

The season may only be finished a matter of week but next season's fixtures were issued today, with Motherwell opening the season away to St. Johnstone.

The new season starts on 15th August with Motherwell's new boss, whoever that may be, starting his domestic reign at McDiarmid Park in Perth. Although there is a good chance the game will be shifted for TV if Setanta survive and follow the pattern of last year.

The SPL has trumpetted the return of the Ne'erday Derby, but as it turns out the games are actually on 2nd January rather than the 1st with Hamilton crossing the Clyde to play at Fir Park on the day.

Motherwell then close the first three round of fixtures with a trip to Celtic Park before the split for the last five games.

It will only take until the third game of the season before we line up against former boss Mark McGhee as we make the trip to Pittodrie the week after our first home game with Kilmarnock on 22nd August.

Next big date for Well fans is Monday with the draw for the Europa League first preliminary round.
