Motherwell remain unbeaten after four League games after an excellent 0-0 draw, although there was disappointment when Jim O'Brien misseda late penalty
There has been much talk about how good this new Motherwell side are after the first three League games, and how the game with Rangers would be a good test.
As it turned out they passed the test with flying colours in game they could easily have won, even before the chance to score from the penalty spot.
There were long spells in the game when Rangers couldn't get a touch as Motherwell passed from side to side and probed away at the Rangers defence.
Kris Boyd was well shackled by the defensive partnership of Saunders and Reynolds, and they were ably backed up by some sharp goalkeeping from John Ruddy. The big keeper made one particularly outstanding save from a close range Bougherra headers.
Coke and Hartley were outstanding in midfield as the dominated in this area and in turn giving Mendes, Davis and McCulloch a chasing.
The only disappointment was that there wasn't enough quality in the final third with Sutton and Murphy a bit off the pace - but we can't grumble.
Although all three points could have stayed at Fir Park when Bougherra fouled Jutkiwiecz in the box. O'Brien took the kick with an outstanding save from McGregor keeping the scoreline blank.
If you had offered me a draw at the start of the game I wouldn't have complained but given the late penalty there is a touch of disappointment tonight.
