Well edge out Bairns

In a truly awful game Motherwell edged out Falkirk thanks to a Lukas Jutkiewicz header in the first half.

After last week's loss to Hibs Jim Gannon made three changes to his starting line up with Craigan, Murphy and Humprhey restored to the starting line up.

The opening stages were poor with neither side capable of passing the ball to a team mate, and it was therefore a bit of a surprise when we got a goal after 18 minutes.

Chris Humprhey's corner picked out Jutkiewicz at the front post and his header defleceted off Arfield and in. This was the on loan strikers first goal for two and a half years, since he was a youngster at Swindon Town.

We then looked like a good team for the remainder of the first half but with only a weak volley from Giles Coke to show for our efforts in front of goal.

Falkirk looked more lively at the start of the second half and should've been level after 66 minutes. Arfield saw a shot crash off the underside of the bar and bounce to team mate Stewart who somehow headed over from close range with goal gaping!

We survived that scare and ran out winners in the end in a game that will not live long in the memory. This may in part be down to the weather with a strong wind spoiling many moves both teams tried to start up.

At least we have some optimism ahead of the next international break with tricky away ties coming up in our next three games. with a trip to Celtic Park and then two trips to Paisley to follow.
