Motherwell's narrow 1-0 win over Hearts moves them to fourth in the table.

The early stages of the game provided some poor stuff with the only interesting play of note being a strong penalty shout in the 13th minute. Jim O'brien burst into the penalty box only to be halted in his tracks by Ismael Bouzid but the ref gave nothing!!

The first goalie called into action was Janos Balogh of Hearts when he turned a Shaun Hutchinson header over the bar from a Ross Forbes corner.

There was more refereeing controvesy just before the break when the ref failed to see Goncalves pass the ball back to Balogh but the Linesman waved his flag. Well couldn't capitalise on the pass back as Forbes blasted over.

Well were ahead after 10 minutes of the second half, Moutaouakil sent in a great cross from the right and it cleared the players in the middle allowing Forbes to sneak in at the back to volley past Balogh.

The games should have been over in the 71st minute when Hearts were reduced to 10 men. A long ball from Ruddy fooled Eggart Jonsson allowing O'Brien a free run at goal, Jonsson dragged him down and was rightly shown a straight red card.

Hearts had their best spell after this but Well held on for an important win after the two St. Mirren games.
