Motherwell today announced Craig Brown as their interim manager, while tomorrow's game v Hearts is in doubt

After the sacking of Jim Gannon yesterday Motherwell have moved quickly to bring in Former Scotland Boss Craig Brown and his assistant Archie Knox to hold the fort until they find a permanent replacement.

Brown was an assistant Manager at Fir Park under Willie McLean back in the 1970s and still holds some fondness for the club that gave him a break in football coaching.

It looks as though they are in charge for three games, Hearts, Accies and ICT in the Scottish Cup.

I have no problem with this decision as I think these two will get the squad fit and also in true Craig Brown tradition make us hard to beat (something that hasn't been the case in the last four weeks!). BUT I would not like to see them appointed in the long term, preferring to see someone younger appointed to the role.

He may have to wait until Saturday to take charge for the first time as Hearts have planned a 2pm inspection of the areas surrounding Tynecastle. The pitch is playable but as with Aberdeen, Hamilton, St. Johnstone and Kilmarnock whose games are already off it is the surrounding streets and parking areas that are the problem.

From what I have heard if the game was today it would have been off, therefore we will have to wait on the weather overnight and the work carried out by Hearts before we hear if the game is on or not.

I always believe if Police are advising not to travel unless absolutely necessary then games should be cancelled - we'll wait and see what happens!
