Another boring cup draw

The fifth round draw of the Scottish Cup was made today and if we get past Inverness we have another boring away trip to an SPL club.

Even though only six out of sixteen ties have been played in the 4th round the SFA proceeded with the fifth round draw this afgernoon following the 3-3 draw between Hamilton and Rangers.

If we get past Inverness in the next week or so we have been handed another away trip but this time it is to either Kilmarnock or Falkirk (two venues we will visit in the next few weeks on SPL business).

So much for the romance of the Cup this season, a trip to Inverness, a ground we have visited too many times in the last five years and then a trip to familiar SPL grounds.

What happened to draws that gave us trips to places we don't get to too often, like Arbroath, Cowdenbeath, Stirling Albion etc etc. Sadly these days we seem to get drawn against either Killie or St. Mirren in every competition!

Hibs are lucky this season that they have drawn Irvine Meadow and then Edinburgh City or Montrose - maybe with this draw they will end their 108 year hoodoo!!

Active Nation Scottish Cup fifth round fixtures:

Dunfermline v Morton or Celtic
Forfar or St Johnstone v Dundee United
Hibernian v Edinburgh City or Montrose
Livingston or Dundee v Ayr United or Brechin City
Raith Rovers or Airdrie United v Aberdeen
Kilmarnock or Falkirk v Inverness CT or Motherwell
St Mirren v Hamilton or Rangers
Ross County or Inverurie Loco Works v Albion Rovers or Stirling Albion

Ties to be played on 6 or 7 February
