McCall sees his side win in League for first time.

New Well boss Stuart McCall saw his side win their first League game since he took off, relieving the pressure at Fir Park but piling pressure on Hibs.

McCall was forced to make one change to his side with Keith Lasley injured being replaced by Saunders. He also made one other change with new loan signing Steve Jones coming in for Ross Forbes.

There wasn’t much to write home about in the early stages apart from a couple of long range efforts from Hibs that failed to trouble Darren Randolph.

Well then took the lead on 20 minutes, and it owed a lot to former keeper Graeme Smith. Steven Hammell bent in a free kick from 30 yards out, and it looked as though Jamie Murphy got a slight touch on it to deceive Smith who should’ve don better.

The lead was doubled four minutes later, again Hammell was the provider, this time from a corner from the right which was met by Saunders at the front post to bullet a header past a flat footed Smith.

Hibs were thrown a life line with a minute to the break, Steven Saunders slipped in the box and handled a Danny Galbraith cross for a definite penalty. Zemmama stepped up to take and sent his kick soaring high over the bar.

The second half was a “dogged” affair for Motherwell as Motherwell held on for an important three points.

A Stuart McCall said after the game it wasn’t a classic but after a run of no wins in eight games it was just good to get a win under our belts again.
