When will refs be made accountable?

Stuart McCall mentioned the performance of the ref at Rugby Park yesterday, and having seen the highlights he has a point.
The main bone of contention was the penalty awarded to Kilmarnock yesterday. Watching the highlights on the BBC website there appears only to be a coming together of Gunning and Pascali. If the foul had been given the other way I don’t think anyone would have complained.
This wasn’t the only decision that seemed harsh on us, particularly in the first half. Jennings booking looked to be given on reputation rather than the actual incident, certainly compare to the tackle which saw Clancy wipe out Humprhey in front of the dug outs.
While Jennings now has to serve a three game ban and we also lost a soft goal thanks to the ref, he goes home unscathed and will get back to refereeing without any public sanction.
I wouldn’t like us to go as far as Rugby where the refs are mic’ed up but I would like to know why they gave some of the big decisions they gave. It would also be good if the SFA could come out and let us know refs have been demoted, or whatever, based on performance.
I think in the 21st Century it is time for some transparency in these types on incidents, and not only at the top of the tree…..
