Motherwell’s goalless draw with Hearts combined with a draw between Kilmarnock and Inverness sees Motherwell secure top six for Well.
There were a few surprises in the Well line up with Sutton, Lasley and Murphy on the bench, seeing Jones and Casagolda return to the starting line up with 17 year old Stuart Carswell making his debut in midfield.
It was all Hearts in the early stages but it was Motherwell who made the first real chance with Jones shooting over from close range as early as the 9th minute. At the other Darren Randolph pulled off a great low save to his right from a Templeton shot.
Hearts then had a couple of long range shots sail over from Black and Templeton, but apart from that it looked as though the first half was going to fizzle out. That was until Steven Saunders let go a great shot from the edge of the box which crashed off the base of the post with McDonald beaten.
The home side made a bright start to the second half and Randolph was in action again when he made a double stop from Templeton. Hearts continued to dominate possession but were not really created any chances.
Once again all the home side were coming up with were long range efforts off target from Suso and Skacel. At the other end we once again hit the woodwork when a Forbes lob hit the bar before bouncing over.
With three minutes left Randolph was the saviour once again when he reacted quickly to scramble out a free kick from Jason Thomson, this was enough to seal the point.
Eventually the score was confirmed from Rugby Park and Motherwell had clinched the final spot in the top six.
