Newcastle are into the UEFA cup with a 4-1 victory on aggregate against Lillestrom.

Newcastle will now play in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Cup, which will help the Magpies attract a new striker to go along with new signing, Damien Duff.

Newcastle started well with Milner putting a shot wide after just 2 minutes, and Emre later hit a free-kick into the wall.

Ameobi should have perhaps given Newcastle the lead after 15 minutes when an Emre corner found his head but unfortunately he put it over the bar.

But the breakthrough did come after 28 minutes in the form of Shola Ameobi. Solano backheeled a free-kick to N’Zogbia, who hit a shot goalwards. The Lillestrom goalie could only parry the shot and Ameobi was there to slot it home.

Scott Parker made a good run after 36 minutes and put in a cross to Ameobi who finished it, making it 2-0 to the Magpies.

With little threat being offered by Lillestrom, who at this point needed 3 goals to win the tie, Emre added a third in the last minute with a curling shot.

FINAL SCORE: 0-3 (1-4 on aggregate)
