Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has rejected the chance to become part of the coaching staff for England.
Shearer wishes to remain loyal to his word, as he has extended his contract as a pundit with the BBC, but has not ruled it out in the future.
Shearer has always claimed that if he received offers immediately after retirement he would turn them down as it was too soon and he remained true to his word.
Shearer said:
"I had already told the BBC I would extend my contract with them. I didn't want to break my word,"
"I was flattered when Steve telephoned me just before the World Cup and explained the role he visualised for me, working alongside himself and Terry Venables.
