Amdy Faye, left out of the squad for today's friendly with Villarreal, has now been given permission to speak with Charlton Athletic over a possible move to the London club.

Said Glenn Roeder:

"Amady Faye is in a situation where we have allowed him to talk to Charlton.

"Now we have to wait and see if he makes the move to London."

The media has been speculating on this for a few days now, and the official club confirmation that he can speak to Charlton would suggest the deal is on and will probably go through.

No word on a fee yet but papers are speculating figures of £1.5m and £2.5m for the Senegalese midfielder who was one of Graeme Souness' first signings for the club from Portsmouth. He has made 45 appearances for the club in total.
